Biography / Artist Statement

Born in Lubbock, Texas, Jody is the daughter of Conny Martin, artist, and C.B. Martin, retired builder and watercolorist. A graduate of Abilene Christian University, she went on to study painting under Daniel Greene of New York and Emily Gutherie Smith of Ft. Worth.

Of Conny Martin, Jody says, “My mother was the most amazing person I’ve ever known. From her I learned the love of painting this amazing world and the love of the creator who made it. My journey continues as I attempt to capture the soul beneath a face or the beauty of a moment!
