Martha Hunnicutt

Biography

Martha Hunnicutt is a native Texan from Levelland. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Eastern New Mexico University. Advancing art in the community drives her passion with over a decade of experience working with non-profit art organizations, and she currently serves as vice president of exhibits for the West Texas Watercolor Society of Lubbock. She teaches a series of monthly fine art acrylic workshops called “Paint with Passion” at the Lubbock Municipal Garden & Arts Center to inspire, encourage and support aspiring art students.

Martha’s paintings are collected nationally, her work has been represented in various venues, including past representation by Broadway Contemporary Fine Art Gallery. Her work has been featured in Lubbock Magazine in 2021. She has participated in both regional and national shows including the Lubbock Arts Festival Juried Exhibitions in 2021 and 2024. Also, she is a Signature member of the West Texas Watercolor Society.

Artist Statement

Life experience has influenced this award-winning artist, bringing emotion and energy to her paintings. Creating from a more personal place, where she finds solace, a time to reflect, allowing her to create from the soul; memories of everyday subjects, people, and places that connect and surprise us. Whether it is a flamenco dancer, a coastal scene with layers of movement and energy or a vibrant West Texas sunset, the goal is to create an emotional experience for her viewers.
